PrintXpress - step and repeat

PrintXpress is built with an aim to expand the functionalities in a standard Windows driver, to help making production life simple and easy for the operators.  Two of the new features added to the app is step and repeat of a job, another is JPEG, PNG file format import.

Very often a job comes in like a name card or ticket, it can be printed by placing it side by side and repeated it for several rows to occupy the whole sheet to save material cost. We have added this feature called step and repeat just to cater for that.

Immediately after a job is added to the ready queue, there is a button for the operator to wake up this step and repeat function call.  This will allow the operator to  set up the parameter like gutters and trim marks. Once that is done, it will immediately produce the job.  Operator can view the layout set in PDF to confirm all is done correctly before sending to the active queue for printing.

Another useful feature for PrintXpress is the JPEG file format import.  As we all know a JPEG image does not define the actual print size, the first thing we have to do when the job is loaded, is to define the size of job we want to output.  Once the width and height is entered, it will immediately scale it to tiff format ready for printing.

Again with PrintXpress, operator can also take advantage of the step and repeat function to organise the file to take up all the space on the paper size provided.

Exactly the same process again based on the previous steps, we can have a step and repeated job from the JPEG file we have just imported.

There are other useful features that will enhance the productivity of PrintXpress, we will talk about job imposition, automatic ganging of multiple jobs, on another time.
