PlateController – a new application for 1 bit tiff Proofing

PlateController has been on the market for many years. This versatile tool was initially developed for a simple step-&-repeat processes for proofing and output to CTP. But over the years, the toolset has been expanded as such, that it became a complete solution for offset, flexo and screen printers. Besides raster file formats like PGB, 1bit Tiff, Ras and Len, PlateController can now process PDF as well to meet the requirements of PDF workflow.

The latest development is for a large reputable printer in HK using PlateController for producing Blue Print on a Canon IBF printer, 3 minutes to print front and back for a 8-up sheet, that includes down sampling from a high res page image. You do not have to look far for the return on Investment.

PlateController is intuitive and easy to use, enjoyed by many operators as a handy tool. The WYSIWYG approach allows setup of your job in minutes, you know exactly what you have put together, front and back automatically.   It would take a long time to describe all the different tools in PlateController but feel free to download the brochure from our website.

New devices supported

·  X-Rite eXact scanning option. pressSIGN has supported the eXact spectrophotometer for over a year. X-Rite recently launched the scanning option for Windows. It's simple to use, just attach the scanning trolley and quickly and easily measure single or multiple row color bars.

·  Konica Minolta FD-7 -Konica Minolta were the first manufacturer to release a M1 Spectrophotometer. The device will also measure MO, M2 and M3. An optional track is available for the measurements of strips.
·  TECHKON SpectroDenns -The TECHKON SpectroDens supports all measurement modes and can scan up to 54 patches in strip mode as well as single patches. The scanning is newly supported in pressSIGN

Spot and CMYK scores separatedpressSIGN is now capable of displaying three scores for each measurement and job, something the overall score the CMYK score and the Spot colour score.

The new method makes it much easier to track spot color performance both for individual jobs and across multiple jobs from many sites. This is particularly true with pressSIGN Global Print Management.

Synching custom spot libraries

pressSiGN GPM allows users to set up a color library at the central server and distribute these libraries to specified named sites that are connected to the server. When the library is no longer needed by the remote site the central administrator can remove the library from local use.

Neutral Print Density Curves (NPDC)
In many territories print buyers and brand managers focus on the GRACol® and G7® methodology. somethingUntil now pressSIGN has offered 4CX as the best method of achieving accurate grey balance from any ICC profile. pressSIGN 6 adds Neutral Print Density as an alternative method of achieving consistently accurate grey balance.

In addition to providing a tonal adjustment based on NPD pressSIGN reports the Maximum and Average Delta L and Delta F.

New Production Mode Tab
pressSIGN-Pro 6 adds a new production mode view shows the Delta E or Density readings acrosssomething the sheet for each measurement. The production mode makes it easy to spot problems that may exist in particular keys as the job runs.
In the example on the right we can see exactly where the problems existed on the yellow plate with all the timings for each measurement.

Other features
Create jobs from single spot colour measurements - Need to make a series of single measurements for use at a later time. Create a job and take the measurements and return the job for further measurements or to compare.

Update the latest Pantone® libraries to include the 2014 colors - As part of Pantone's continual enlargement of their libraries a further 84 colors were added to the PLUS series in 2014 providing 1755 colors in total. All 1755 colors are included in pressSIGN 6 to make it easier to hit any Pantone® color.

ISO 12647-2 2013 standard included - The ISO TC 130 committee released details of the latest update to ISO 12647-2 in December 2013. This new revised standard is included in pressSIGN 6
Full Screen Mode - Expand the pressSIGN interface to the full real estate of the monitor.
Update for web browser reports - All job details included when individual jobs listed. More information on spot colors and improved performance.
