Compose System Announce The Sale Of A New Automated Ganging Imposition System For The Greeting Card Printer, Imperial Litho

LONDON, UK, 9th May, 2011 – Compose System announced the sale and the successful installation of the UK’s first BigIceBox system (BIB) to the renowned card printer Imperial Litho Ltd.

Harry Carter, the Managing Director of Imperial Litho says, “I have been looking for a system like the BigIceBox for many years to streamline our plate planning which usually is a very manual, skilled and time consuming ganging process. We are very pleased with the solution that Compose has provided, we are now able to impose virtually all our jobs automatically, with our account managers now able to handle the imposition with ease”.

Kevin Caughtry, Sales Manager of Compose System, says “When we were first introduced to Harry by Gary Law of Collective Colour, a long standing supplier to Imperial Litho, we knew our BIB solution would meet the needs of Imperial Litho.”

“Although our core system is developed with jobbing and W2P printers in mind, our BIB solution has many features that Harry was looking for. We were delighted to have been able to work closely with Imperial Litho to develop a version of our BIB that meets the challenging needs of the greeting card industry,” he explains.

Compose BigIceBox system accepts greeting card designs in PDF format in any card sizes and automatically gangs them onto a press sheet of specified sizes, on-the-fly, it takes into account the job’s delivery time, paper type, paper weight and run length, etc. Where it is optimal the system will even step-and-repeat cards to achieve the most costs effective run length for the selected jobs.

The true power of BIB is that it can intelligently assist in the optimization of the ganging layout based on specific processing or finishing parameters such as foiling, cuts, folding, embossing, special colours, etc. The layout and each processing layer can be previewed, the cards can also be manually moved, rotated, swapped or replaced. The final result is an optimum ganged-up layout with trim marks, plate marks and press control strip as required. The PDF file can then be processed through a workflow or be sent direct to a computer-to- plate system.

The job information is retained on a database, individual job ticket with thumb nail can be generated or such information can be passed onto the customer’s MIS system or to other finishing systems in JDF format.
